Dr. Amy Myers in the Kitchen at the South Austin Headquarters of AMMD with new supplement packaging.

Why I Made This

“My Double Chocolate Paleo Protein is richer, creamier, and more delicious than any other protein powder you’ve tried. When I custom formulated Double Chocolate, I spent many months perfecting it to ensure that it had the absolute perfect balance of rich chocolate flavor, and just the right amount of natural sweetness.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Double Chocolate Paleo Protein made of?

Paleo Protein is made from hydrolyzed bovine collagen that comes from happy, pasture-raised cows that graze on fresh green fields in the sunshine. These animals are raised with love and care and are never given unnecessary drugs such as antibiotics, arsenic-based growth promoters, or hormones. They are grass-fed and never fed GMOs, such as genetically modified corn and soy meal.

What time of day should I take Double Chocolate Paleo Protein?

Paleo Protein is perfect any time of the day. While Dr. Myers likes it in her morning smoothies, you can enjoy it at all times of the day. Whether you’re mixing it into your morning coffee or into shakes for dessert for a flavorful protein boost, you’ll find that it’s great around the clock.

Is Double Chocolate Paleo Protein safe for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and children?

While many moms and dads tell me they give Paleo Protein to their kids, I always recommend speaking with your child’s pediatrician or nutritionist if you have concerns about any of the ingredients or adjusting the dosing for them. And, as always, I recommend reaching out to your physician, midwife, or other qualified healthcare practitioner if you have any concerns before using it while pregnant or breastfeeding.

Is Double Chocolate Paleo Protein damaged by heat?

All proteins are damaged by high heat to some extent. Proteins are long chains of amino acids bound together. High heat can potentially fold and warp the amino acid chains into new shapes and structures called amines that may be unusable by the body, or even harmful. This is why you should avoid charring or overcooking meat. The proteins and peptides in my Paleo Protein are quite stable at moderately high temps, so adding it to a hot cup of tea or coffee, or baking it at low temps (below 300F) will not denature it too much.

Can I take Double Chocolate Paleo Protein if I’m allergic to tree nuts?

Paleo Protein contains MCT oil derived from coconuts. Scientifically speaking, coconuts are not tree nuts—they are in fact fruits classified as a “drupe.” Other drupes include palm fruit, peaches, berries, plums, and apricots. However, because the FDA has lumped coconuts in a group with other tree nuts for labeling purposes, we are required to list them as a potential allergen. In fact, true coconut allergy is actually extremely rare with only a few cases reported in the medical literature. If you have a diagnosed tree nut allergy, please speak with your healthcare provider before consuming any products containing coconut.

    Excellent Protein Powder!

I take many of Amy Myers' products. This protein powder is an excellent addition to my daily routine! I had purchased the Amy Myers Collagen Protein Capsules in the past, which have been discontinued. I have been wanting to try a protein powder for a long time, and I love chocolate, so I thought I'd try this powder. I LOVE it! It has become my afternoon treat after work. I use a frother to mix this powder into plain water, and it is so tasty and smooth! Just the right amount of sweetness for me. I also add a couple of ice cubes, as I like to drink it a bit colder. I truly appreciate knowing that I am getting such a good source of collagen in this product. I know how beneficial it is in helping to support my body's overall health. Highly recommend!

This is a regrettable purchase for sure. This protein powder is loaded with STEVIA. I never bought a protein power that had a sweetener added to it especially one that is claiming to be paleo. I can’t fathom why a company would feel the need to add any sweetener to a protein powder when every individual can choose to add or omit their own. The bag is huge and the stevia aftertaste is absolutely disgusting. I don’t need my smoothie sweetened and if I did it would not be by something that leaves this terrible taste in my mouth.

    formula changed... tastes terrible..too sweet

I have been buying this double chocolate protein for months. It was darker, richer in cocoa and the taste was very good. Now it's not as dark..as if they replaced the cocoa for more stevia and the taste is horrible.. artificial, too sweet. Super disappointed..

High Price to Pay for Poor Packaging & Quantity

I’ve emailed the Company many times about their protein powder packaging, and it still hasn’t improved. The bag doesn’t reseal well, if at all. Not one bag I’ve received since the Company made the switch from the plastic container to the bag has stayed sealed. So I wind up having to dump it into my own bag or storage container, often losing much of the powder from spillage. Seems like a high price for cheap packaging.
