About Our Founder

Dr. Myers is an accomplished, formally trained physician who received her Doctorate of Medicine from Louisiana State University Health Science Center in 2005. From there, she served as an Emergency Medicine resident at the University of Maryland Medical Center from 2005-2008, and an Emergency Physician at both Dell Children's Hospital and the University Medical Center Brackenridge from 2008-2010.

She was the founder and Medical Director at Austin UltraHealth from 2010-2018, where she helped thousands of patients get to the root cause of their autoimmune, thyroid, and digestive issues. She was able to help them reverse their conditions and reclaim their health.

While running Austin UltraHealth, she also completed her certification in Functional Medicine at The Institute of Functional Medicine in 2012. Dr. Myers is a published medical researcher who also holds a US/International patent for her work: “Inhibition of angiogenesis and destruction of angiogenic vessels with extracts of noni juice (Morinda citrifolia)” PCTIUS02127579.

She originally discovered her passion for helping others while serving as a US Peace Corps volunteer in Paraguay, and decided to pursue medicine. While in medical school, she was diagnosed with Graves' disease, an autoimmune thyroid condition. Since conventional medicine ultimately failed her, she decided to embark on her own journey to healing.

Along the way, she made it her mission to help those who've also been failed by the conventional medical system restore their own health and live their best lives.

In Her Own Words

Dr. Myers’ Passion For Functional Medicine

“During my second year in medical school at Louisiana State University, I was diagnosed with Graves' disease, an autoimmune condition of the thyroid. All of my concerns were ignored or dismissed by my doctors before they finally diagnosed me correctly.  Unfortunately, conventional medicine only gave me two choices: Use radioactive iodine to ablate (blow up) my thyroid; or have my thyroid surgically removed. I eventually made the difficult decision to have my thyroid ablated, a decision I regret to this day. Despite this serious setback, I graduated with my Doctorate of Medicine and went on to complete my residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center. From there, I served in Austin, Texas as an Emergency Physician at both Dell Children's Hospital and the University Medical Center Brackenridge from 2008-2010. In 2010, with a desire to help patients achieve their long-term health goals, I started my own clinic—Austin UltraHealth. It was there that I was able to pursue my passion of functional medicine by becoming a certified functional medicine physician in 2012. Since then, I've gone on to write two New York Times bestselling books, as well as the Amazon #1 bestseller The Autoimmune Solution Cookbook. I've been a guest on The Dr. Oz Show seven times, starred in my own PBS special, and featured in dozens of television, radio, and magazine interviews.”
