Snacking doesn’t have to derail your health. Sadly, many protein bars or other “healthy snacks” on the market contain added sugar and preservatives. These Liposomal Turmeric Balls are a clean, refreshing, and zesty alternative! The protein and healthy fats will help keep you going without the sugar crash afterward. The flavor will keep you coming back again and again (don't worry, it's ok to take a few!).
You’re going to love the dough-like consistency of these turmeric balls. The coconut butter and dried apricot create a chewy texture. The coconut flakes add texture and a touch of sweet. They also support a healthy inflammatory response with curcumin and ginger. To give this a citrusy twist, I add a bit of lemon zest and a spoonful of my Liposomal Curcumin.
What I also love about these turmeric balls is how easy they are to make. You can whip these quick, simple snacks together for on-the-go or a mid-day office treat.
Dried Apricots
Dried apricots provide a colossal amount of nutrients. Rich in vitamins C, E, and A, dried apricots will keep you looking young and feeling great! These vitamins act as antioxidants to ward off free radical damage. This can slow down premature aging, and even protect you against cancer.
Using dried apricots in your healthy snacks is one of the best moves you could make. One reason for this is that they are low in sugar yet high in fiber! They also provide the perfect chewy texture for these liposomal turmeric balls.
Dried apricots also contain polyphenols which promote overall wellbeing. Examples include gallic acid, chlorogenic acid, and ferulic acid. In addition, dried apricots are rich in flavonoids. Quercetin, myricetin, and kaempferol. These beneficial compounds protect your cells and aid in detoxification. Diets high in flavonoids and polyphenols can reduce your risk for chronic disease. It may even help prevent certain cancers.
Tigernut Butter
If you’re looking for a nut-free creamy spread, tigernut butter is the way to go. I add it to these liposomal turmeric balls to help hold all the other ingredients together.
Tigernuts aren’t actually a nut but a small tuber. Grinding up dried tigernuts creates a thick, creamy spread packed with nutrients. Tigernut butter contains monounsaturated fats which promote healthy cholesterol levels. Additionally, tigernut butter contains essential minerals. For example, it contains potassium and magnesium to support a healthy heart and nervous system. As if that wasn’t amazing enough, their prebiotic fiber supports a healthy microbiome!
The beauty of tigernut butter is that it’s a safe option for those on an autoimmune or elimination diet. Tigernut butter is nut-free, dairy free, and gluten free. Therefore, it won’t irritate your gut or trigger an immune response.
Liposomal Curcumin
You may have heard that turmeric has a lot to offer in terms of health. This knobby, finger-shaped root is a staple in many Indian cuisines. The bioactive compound curcumin is what makes turmeric so powerful. It's high antioxidant profile protect cells from oxidative stress. Research shows it also contains cancer-fighting properties. Unfortunately, you’d have to eat a lot in order to reap the full benefits.
Thankfully, I designed a supplement that harnesses the power of curcumin in its most bioavailable form. Liposomal Curcumin is a liquid supplement that has the most delicious flavor! It is similar to a dreamsicle, adding a sweet tropical flavor to these liposomal turmeric balls. Two teaspoons provides 500mg of curciminoids to support healthy inflammation markers. It also promotes digestive health and regularity.
How To Make Liposomal Turmeric Balls
The first step in making these liposomal turmeric balls is to soak the dried apricots in warm water for about 10 minutes. This softens them up and allows for easy mixing. After 10 minutes, drain them and chop them into fine pieces.

Place the dried apricots into a food processor. Add either the almond or tigernut flour and coconut flour. Next, add your turmeric powder, soaked apricots and shredded ginger. Follow up with your tigernut butter and two tablespoons of Liposomal Curcumin. Sprinkle in the lemon zest, sea salt, and black pepper. Pulse or blend until you reach a dough-like consistency. For a bit of added texture, add the unsweetened coconut flakes and pulse lightly.

Note: If the mixture feels too dry, add a teaspoon of tigernut butter at a time until you achieve a soft, pliable texture.

Roll the liposomal turmeric balls dough into bite-sized balls. Aim for about the size of a tablespoon. Pour the rest of the coconut flakes into a small bowl. Roll each ball in the coconut flakes until they’re fully covered.

Place the coated liposomal turmeric balls on a tray lined with parchment paper. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help firm them up. Enjoy this delicious and satisfying snack!

Serving and Storage
For best results, serve chilled. You can store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
