Do You Need a Multivitamin?

Do You Need a Multivitamin?

Science Based

If you eat a healthy diet, you may think you don’t need a multivitamin. Maybe you eat a Paleo, keto, Autoimmune, vegan, vegetarian, or whole-food diet. Or, you may eat a SAD (Standard American Diet). Either way, it can be a challenge to eat enough nutrient-rich foods every day. Do you need a multivitamin to help fill in these gaps? I highly recommend it, and I’ll tell you why in a bit. I’ll also share the importance of having a methylated multivitamin. This formulation is so much better than your average multivitamin.

Regardless of your age and gender, it’s critical to get the full spectrum of nutrients your body needs to thrive. Some of these vital daily nutrients include vitamins A, C, and E, and iron. Riboflavin, zinc, magnesium, and B6 are also on the list. Multivitamins are powerful solutions to help fill in these gaps. That said, not all multivitamins are created equal. To get the best outcome, I recommend you take a high-quality, methylated multivitamin.

Why do you need vitamins, anyway? It’s a good question. Let me tell you a little bit about the function of vitamins in our body.

Function of Vitamins in Our Body

Your body needs around 30 key vitamins and minerals every day. You cannot make these micronutrients on your own. Additionally, there are two types of vitamins: fat-soluble and water-soluble. Water-soluble vitamins dissolve in water, while fat-soluble vitamins dissolve in fat.

What is the function of vitamins in our body? Water-soluble vitamins include vitamin C, beta carotene, and folic acid (B9). B vitamins are also included. You need to consume these types of vitamins daily because your body cannot store them. Your body excretes any excess through your urine. On that note, Vitamin B12 is the only water-soluble vitamin stored in the liver. Water-soluble vitamins enable your body to:

  • Produce and release energy
  • Build proteins and cells
  • Make collagen

As I mentioned earlier, your body stores fat-soluble vitamins in the liver and fatty tissues. Although your body stores these vitamins, I recommend consuming them daily. That’s because most of us do not have adequate stores of these nutrients. These include vitamins A, D, E and K. Fat-soluble vitamins allow your body to:

  • Build strong bones
  • Maintain healthy vision
  • Protect the body by serving as antioxidants
  • Interact with other vitamins, facilitating absorption

Minerals are also stored in your body. One example of this is calcium in your bones. Your body absorbs the minerals it needs and then excretes the excess. Furthermore, your body stores minerals primarily for structure and metabolism. In contrast, your body stores vitamins for nutrient reserves. Minerals play a pivotal role in your body as well:

  • Sodium, chloride, and potassium: Help maintain water balance
  • Calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium: Support bone health
  • Sulfur: Integral in forming healthy hair, skin, and nails

Vitamin Absorption

Vitamin absorption is a delicate balancing act. Vitamins and minerals typically work in unison to promote proper absorption. Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium from your food instead of depleting it from your bones. Also, Vitamin C encourages proper iron intake. This supports healthy energy levels.

Vitamins and minerals can also interfere with each other. This can lead to the blocking of vitamin absorption. For instance, too much manganese can deplete iron stores. In addition, excessive vitamin C can inhibit copper absorption. Another example is that excess phosphorus can inhibit magnesium intake.

If your sodium levels are too high, you become at risk for serious health complications. Your body will attempt to eliminate any surplus of sodium. However, since calcium binds with excess sodium you’ll lose that calcium as sodium leaves.1 You can imagine how this might affect your health.

It can be a challenge to make sure you are getting the right amounts of vitamins and minerals. There are a lot of questions that can lead to confusion. Worst of all, it can lead to inaction. That’s why I’ve taken the guesswork out with my methylated multivitamin. This superior formulation is designed for optimal nutrient absorption. It truly gives you the best outcome for your daily nutritional needs.

Why You Can’t Rely On Food Alone

You may have heard that eating a well-balanced diet is all you need to meet your nutritional needs. The truth is, we aren’t eating the same produce our grandparents ate. Our food doesn’t contain the same nutrients it did before the 1950s. What happened? Modern agriculture has shifted its focus to mass production and pest resistance. Because of this, the soil loses its nutrients. It also brought on the “dilution effect,” which is the state of decreased minerals in plants.

I recommend eating a diet of locally produced organic fruits and veggies. Ideally, you’ll want them grown from heirloom seeds. You can often find those at farmers’ markets. I also recommend eating only free-range chicken and grass-fed beef. Also, stick with wild-caught fish. Limiting poor food choices, like fast food and sugary desserts, is essential too!

Do You Need a Multivitamin?

Because food is not what it once was, I recommend everyone take a multivitamin. In fact, I cannot emphasize the importance of multivitamins enough! Selecting the best vitamin and mineral supplements is critical. Remember, these micronutrients are essential for your cells and organs to function properly. They support your body’s optimal growth and development. Plus, they are vital for the health of your immune system!

So do you need a multivitamin? Yes, but you need to know how much of each vitamin and mineral to take. Let’s talk about daily recommended doses for vitamins and minerals.

Recommended Daily Vitamin and Mineral Intake

How do you know if you’re getting enough vitamins and minerals? The dietary guidelines for Americans gives you an idea of the minimum amounts you need. These numbers help optimize your immune system and overall health. Getting enough can help support your body’s response to fatigue and mood imbalances. They also help with thyroid dysfunction and heart disease, among other issues.2

The USRDA (recommended daily allowance) has set guidelines for American adults.3 This was created using an Estimated Average Requirement (EAR). The EAR represents an intake amount needed by at least 50 percent of the population. However, this doesn’t mean it’s the right amount for everyone. Plus, not all vitamins are created. Your body needs the right levels of vitamins and minerals. As I mentioned earlier, too much can be bad for you in some cases.

The MyersⓇ Way Multivitamin

For years, I searched unsuccessfully for a multivitamin that had all the nutrients your body actually needs — at the levels it needs them. So, I decided to formulate my own. The Myers Way® multivitamin is a methylated multivitamin made with pharmaceutical-grade nutrients. This means you get the best vitamin and mineral supplements in a way your body can actually use!

Methylated means it’s formulated in such a way that encourages better absorption. This is important because those with autoimmune conditions or the MTHFR mutation have difficulties processing nutrients.

Your body prefers nutrients in certain forms over others. When I created my multivitamin, I carefully selected the nutrient forms that work best with your body. This means methylated B vitamins and chelated minerals. I also chose vitamin D as cholecalciferol and much more.

I made sure each ingredient was in the most bioavailable form. That way, they are readily absorbed by your body. Multivitamin absorption is the single most important factor in a supplement. If your body can’t process the vitamins you take, they’re useless.

I also designed my multivitamin to support those with autoimmune and thyroid issues. Even so, it’s perfect for anyone looking to build a foundation for optimal health.

This methylated multivitamin also makes a great thyroid multivitamin. Many dealing with thyroid issues need specific nutrients to encourage healthy thyroid function. They also need antioxidants like vitamins C and E and other free radical scavengers. No other multi on the market does more to support your thyroid than The MyersⓇ Way multivitamin!

It is also completely free of common inflammatory and toxic ingredients. That’s right, it’s free from gluten, wheat, dairy, corn, soy, GMOs, yeast, or artificial sweeteners.

The Final Word on Methylated Multivitamins

Eating healthy is important, but as I mentioned, the food of our ancestors is not the same food you consume today. A lack of nutrients in the soil means a lack of vitamins and minerals in your food. Do you need a multivitamin? Absolutely! Including the best vitamin and mineral supplements can help fill in these gaps.

Methylated multivitamins are superior in quality and nutrient deliverability. Don’t settle for anything less than the best! Whether you struggle to eat well or simply need a more robust nutritional plan, The Myers Way® Multivitamin is the perfect addition to your daily regimen.
