Benefits of Ginger

Ginger is a knobby-looking root that grows in parts of Asia. For thousands of years, ginger has been used in teas, culinary dishes, and herbal medicine. The benefits of ginger are numerous. Studies have found that gingerol, the active compound in ginger, helps support a healthy inflammatory response in the body. Additionally, it can reduce oxidative stress by eliminating free radicals in the body1

Ginger can also ease bloating and other intestinal discomfort. It does this by enhancing motility and accelerating stomach emptying2 This makes it easier to eliminate toxins and promote healthy digestion.

Sweet Potatoes Benefits

Finding a bulking agent for your soup that won’t trigger gut or immune sensitivity can be tricky. Luckily, sweet potatoes check all the boxes! Some of the biggest sweet potato benefits come from their vitamin content. These nutritious tubers are rich in carotenoids. These compounds act like antioxidants to support eye, heart, and cognitive health3 They are also high in fiber, which is critical to optimal gut and immune health. Look for organic varieties for this sweet potato and pear soup.

Health Benefits of Pear

What better way to balance a savory soup than with the slight sweetness of pears? Pears are fruits that people have enjoyed since ancient times. Not only are they delicious, but they’re also full of nutrients! Pears are loaded with Vitamin C, potassium, copper, and folate. These essential nutrients support healthy immune and cellular function4 Another one of the health benefits of pears is they are rich in fiber. This can promote healthy bowel movements.

Chicken Bone Broth

As I mentioned earlier, this ginger sweet potato pear soup uses chicken bone broth as a base, and for good reason! Bone broth is fantastic for healing the gut. That’s because it contains collagen and other anti-inflammatory components. However, since homemade recipes take so long to make, I use Chicken Bone Broth Collagen powder instead!

This powder contains 19 grams of Type II collagen protein in each scoop. Collagen is essential to having beautiful hair, skin, and nails. In addition, collagen supports healthy joints and ligaments. It also has parsley flakes, onion powder, and sea salt for added flavor. Enjoy all the goodness of homemade bone broth in a convenient powder form. Simply add four scoops of chicken bone broth powder to four cups of water.
