Why I made this

“Paleo Protein features collagen-specific amino acids that help support endothelial cell health and gut barrier function. In fact, the cells in your stomach and digestive tract absolutely love this stuff."†

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Paleo Protein made of?

Paleo Protein is made from hydrolyzed bovine collagen that comes from happy, pasture-raised cows that graze on fresh green fields in the sunshine. These animals are raised with love and care and are never given unnecessary drugs such as antibiotics, arsenic-based growth promoters, or hormones. They are grass-fed and never fed GMOs, such as genetically modified corn and soy meal.

What time of day should I take Paleo Protein?

Paleo Protein is perfect any time of the day. While Dr. Myers likes it in her morning smoothies, you can enjoy it at all times of the day. Whether you’re mixing it into your morning coffee, into shakes for dessert, or adding it to soups and stews for an extra collagen kick, you’ll find that it’s great around the clock.

Is Paleo Protein safe for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and children?

While many moms and dads tell me they give Paleo Protein to their kids, I always recommend speaking with your child’s pediatrician or nutritionist if you have concerns about any of the ingredients or adjusting the dosing for them. And, as always, I recommend reaching out to your physician, midwife, or other qualified healthcare practitioner if you have any concerns before using it while pregnant or breastfeeding.

Is Paleo Protein damaged by heat?

All proteins are damaged by high heat to some extent. Proteins are long chains of amino acids bound together. High heat can potentially fold and warp the amino acid chains into new shapes and structures called amines that may be unusable by the body, or even harmful. This is why you should avoid charring or overcooking meat. The proteins and peptides in my Paleo Protein are quite stable at moderately high temps, so adding it to a hot cup of tea or coffee, or baking it at low temps (below 300F) will not denature it too much.

Can I take Paleo Protein if I’m allergic to tree nuts?

Paleo Protein contains MCT oil derived from coconuts. Scientifically speaking, coconuts are not tree nuts—they are in fact fruits classified as a “drupe.” Other drupes include palm fruit, peaches, berries, plums, and apricots. However, because the FDA has lumped coconuts in a group with other tree nuts for labeling purposes, we are required to list them as a potential allergen. In fact, true coconut allergy is actually extremely rare with only a few cases reported in the medical literature. If you have a diagnosed tree nut allergy, please speak with your healthcare provider before consuming any products containing coconut.

Not a complete protein- i’ve used this for years, thinking it was a complete protein

If you want to make this a complete protein, you need to add some form of tryptophan to it like a raw egg or yogurt, etc..

I’m hoping in the future they perhaps come out with some form of complete protein powder.

    Good for smoothies

It is easy to add the unflavored protein powder to my smoothies so I can make smoothies the way I like each morning for breakfast. I can change the flavors up without having to worry about the protein affecting the flavor.

    Paleo Protein -Unflavored

It is a great way to add more protein into many dishes without interfering with the flavor. I love this new way to get more protein into my little 84 years young body.

    Best Unflavored Protein

The Paleo Protein Unflavored is the BEST! Not only does it not cause the inflammation the other unflavored brands cause but it doesn’t have an after taste. It blends perfectly into smoothies or homemade coconut ice cream creating a creamy texture.

    Protein powders

Love this product. If the flavored protein are to sweet for you, I mix the unflavored, vanilla and chocolate all in one protein drink. This is my breakfast everyday. This protein has done very well for my gut. Love Dr Amy Myers products!
