Frequently Asked Questions

What is Strawberries & Cream Paleo Protein made of?

Paleo Protein is made from hydrolyzed bovine collagen that comes from happy, pasture-raised cows that graze on fresh green fields in the sunshine. These animals are raised with love and care and are never given unnecessary drugs such as antibiotics, arsenic-based growth promoters, or hormones. They are grass-fed and never fed GMOs, such as genetically modified corn and soy meal.

What time of day should I take Strawberries & Cream Paleo Protein?

Paleo Protein is perfect any time of the day. While Dr. Myers likes it in her morning smoothies, you can enjoy it at all times of the day. Whether you’re mixing it into your morning coffee or into shakes for dessert for a flavorful protein boost, you’ll find that it’s great around the clock.

Is Strawberries & Cream Paleo Protein safe for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and children?

While many moms and dads tell me they give Paleo Protein to their kids, I always recommend speaking with your child’s pediatrician or nutritionist if you have concerns about any of the ingredients or adjusting the dosing for them. And, as always, I recommend reaching out to your physician, midwife, or other qualified healthcare practitioner if you have any concerns before using it while pregnant or breastfeeding.

Is Strawberries & Cream Paleo Protein damaged by heat?

All proteins are damaged by high heat to some extent. Proteins are long chains of amino acids bound together. High heat can potentially fold and warp the amino acid chains into new shapes and structures called amines that may be unusable by the body, or even harmful. This is why you should avoid charring or overcooking meat. The proteins and peptides in my Paleo Protein are quite stable at moderately high temps, so adding it to a hot cup of tea or coffee, or baking it at low temps (below 300F) will not denature it too much.

Can I take Strawberries & Cream Paleo Protein if I’m allergic to tree nuts?

Paleo Protein contains MCT oil derived from coconuts. Scientifically speaking, coconuts are not tree nuts—they are in fact fruits classified as a “drupe.” Other drupes include palm fruit, peaches, berries, plums, and apricots. However, because the FDA has lumped coconuts in a group with other tree nuts for labeling purposes, we are required to list them as a potential allergen. In fact, true coconut allergy is actually extremely rare with only a few cases reported in the medical literature. If you have a diagnosed tree nut allergy, please speak with your healthcare provider before consuming any products containing coconut.

    Shakes like Seattle Dicks shake

I make a great strawberry shake with Amy Myers Strawberry Paleo protein powder. Just add lite coconut milk, org frozen strawberries from Costco, and some drops of stevia. Absolutely delicious like famous Seattle Dicks shakes.

    Awful

It mixes well but it tastes awful. It tastes like Pepto-Bismol and something else. I am upset that my money was wasted. The mocha kind is very good tastes like hot chocolate. I will not be able to finish this strawberry product and I will have to go back to buying the Mocha.

    TIP

Forgot to add this tip to my review of the vanilla powder. When using this product without access to a blender or magic bullet: The key is to put the powder into your glass or tumbler first, then add a tiny bit of water, mix until the powder is completely wet. Then slowly add some water, similar to when you’re making dough. This ensures that there are NO clumps, lumps, or wasted product. You can then begin to stir faster and add more liquid!

    Some bloating

I had some bloating, probably from the inulin. I can use it once in a while but not every day, taste is ok. I was wondering whether the collagen is from the bones of the cows or from the hides. And is it sourced from cows in the US or from abroad? Not clearly labeled.
