Will Histazyme help break down histamine in my bloodstream and nervous system?

The enzyme in Histazyme, diamine oxidase (DAO), does not absorb intestinally and therefore does not work systemically. Histazyme helps break down food-derived histamine only. This means that you can take it before meals to help break down histamine in the gut, but it will not exert its histamine digesting effects systemically or throughout the body.† 

Can Histazyme help with IgE or IgG immune response related to food allergies the way an antihistamine can?

Histazyme is not an “antihistamine,” which is a class of drugs regulated by the FDA. The enzyme in Histazyme, DAO, is not absorbed and does not have systemic activity. Because of this, Histazyme does not manage or address antibody-related or IgE-related food allergies. Histazyme is NOT INTENDED FOR AND IS NOT EFFECTIVE for symptoms of immune-related food allergies, such as peanuts, shellfish, etc., or for gluten intolerance due to sensitivity or celiac disease.

Where does the DAO enzyme in Histazyme come from?

The DAO enzyme in Histazyme is a porcine glandular extract. This means that if you are in any way allergic to pork, or avoid pork for spiritual or other reasons, you will want to avoid Histazyme as well.

    Muscle pain

    It causes muscle pain. I had bad experience. I was so hopeful to control my histamine but I had to stop it due to immediate muscle and joint pain

    For the last 6 months, I have already been incorporating a myriad of other changes including changing to better supplements, dietary changes, eliminating certain things in my environment, incorporating new things, mental emotional physical techniques and practices all to balance my systems. Histazyme is the latest thing I've added because I know I have excess histamine to deal with even after all the other things. I find it most noticable in my sinuses, but, I thought I'd try this in my digestion because I can't take OTC antihistamines. So far, I do notice that it helps! It has a subtle, gentle effect on the body, unlike OTCs. My sinuses are feeling clearer and my system seems calmer since taking it with meals. I can't say my digestion always likes it when I first take it, but, it calms down quickly and I can't always know if I can attribute the initial upset to the histazyme. I'm still healing and balancing things. But, I will continue using it. and... the pills are so small, they are very easy to take. (smile)

    I really does help me with the intolerance. And I think it is better for me too that it does not have vitamin C.
